Wheat trahana is a nutritious, flavor-rich trahana with roots in Epirus, highly popular throughout Greece. It is traditionally used in trahana pies and trahanoto (trahana soup).
Cooking Instructions (Serves 4):
In a pot, bring 4 bowls of water or milk (depending on your preference) to a boil. Add 8 tablespoons of wheat trahana (2 per serving), 1 tablespoon of butter or olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Simmer over low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens (approximately 10 minutes).
Serve hot, either plain or topped with grated cheese.
Ingredients:
Cracked wheat, semolina, cow’s milk, salt. May contain traces of vegetables, sesame, egg, and other types of flour.
